IN THE MIND OF THE ARTIST

My name is Darrell Robins, aka D.RTST. I am a Houston based fine artist & tattoo artist, with a BFA in graphic design. Throughout my childhood I have always had a passion for the arts and I found my purpose in art once I completed college. My art uses inspiration from pop culture, anime, music, childhood memories, daydreams, & the African American experience. My work focuses on dynamic colors, illustration, perspective, & nature. My artwork revolves around moments in time, using perspective as a way to create snapshots into a memory or moment that tell a story. My art is a reflection not only of life experiences, but of the culture in the south. Through my drawings, I want to captivate the moments/ideas in life that we often forget or only remember in distant memories. In the digital era, where everyone is so disconnected through their device’s I want to showcase the moments/ideas that aren’t always caught on video/camera but still shape who we are and how we experience life.

D.RTST is more than a name I made for myself it is a brand created for the daydreamers, night owls, & passionate creatives. The name is actually an acronym that stands for (Daydreamer Remaining True Still Today). We are all born creators/creatives no matter what field of life we choose, but it's up to us to remember who we once were and showcase that to the world.
