IN THE MIND OF THE ARTIST

D.RTST is more than a name I made for myself it is a brand created for the daydreamers, night owls, & passionate creatives. The name is actually an acronym that stands for (Daydreamer Remaining True Still Today). The acronym is based on the initials in my name, Darrell Robins, & inspired by my childhood of mind wandering, excessive daydreaming & one of my favorite quotes by Picasso. We are all born artist & creators no matter what field of life we choose, but it's up to us to remember who we once were. "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."

My art uses inspiration from Pop Culture, Anime, Music, Memories, Nature, my interpretation of lucid daydreams, & the African American experience. My work focuses on dynamic & vivid colors, composition, Illustration, anatomy, perspective, & nature. These different elements help in conceptualizing my style as an artist & creating my own unique perspective on life. I am a Houston based fine artist, with a BFA in graphic design. Throughout my childhood I have always had a passion for the arts, but once I began learning more about myself & exploring my own ideas I started to take my craft seriously. Whether it be for commercial or cultural fields, my artwork adequately uses everything I have learned so far to create a bold and striking one of a kind experience.
